Lady Bison defeat Onalaska

Van’Go’photo Friday night’s game was an experiment in defense, but the Lady Bison excelled with each form as they won 53-19 over Onalaska. With the win, Buffalo sits in second place in 21AA. The junior varsity cruised to a 48-9 victory to go 3-0 in district play.

The Lady Bison started with man-to-man defense. While scoring eleven points, the Lady Bison held the Lady Wildcats to three. The second quarter brought on a full-court press from the Lady Bison. Buffalo came up with thirteen points offensively, but gave up eight points for a 24-11 halftime score. The Lady Bison employed a 1-3-1 defensive scheme in the third quarter, and gave up a mere two points while adding fifteen. Buffalo chose a 2-3 zone defense in the final stage of the ball game as they cruised to a 53-10 win.

Van’Go’photo Latisha Jackson led all scorers with sixteen points. Kelsey Canady bucketed eight points. Karlee and Kylan Ferguson netted seven points each. Lauren Chambers popped in six points. Lindsey McGill and Erica Jones came up with three points each. Kaila Grissett added a field goal while Reagan Read tacked on a free throw.

After Onalaska’s junior varsity scored the opening basket, the Lady Bison poured in twenty unanswered points to lead 20-2 after the first six minutes. Buffalo added eleven points in the second quarter while the Lady Cats came up with four. The Lady Bison managed six points in the third to Onalaska’s three to lead 37-9 going into the final minutes. Buffalo scored eleven more points in the fourth period while holding Onalaska scoreless for the 48-9 final.

Courtney Cunningham led the Lady Bison with twelve points, all in the first quarter. Emily Grissett and Haley Ellison netted eight and seven points, respectively. Samantha Atkinson scored all six of the third quarter points. Kylen Armstrong, Raven Lott and Ana Lopez all popped in four points. Angeles Valles- Villa tacked on three points.
