Junior High Lady Bison remain undefeated...and unchallenged

The junior high Lady Bison continued their stroll through the district when Groveton came to town last Monday night. Both junior high teams earned lopsided victories over the Lady Indians. The seventh grade won 33-7 while the eighth grade won 31-9.
Buffalo’s seventh grade executed a full-court press that gave up only one first half point. The Lady Bison poured in twelve points each of the first quarters to lead 24-1 at the break. Buffalo added another five points in the third stanza to lead 29-1. Groveton hit three baskets in the last period for the 33-7 final.
Emmalea Shaw ripped the nets for ten points to lead all scorers. Marissa Jones connected for seven points, including all five of the third quarter points. Kendall Lee and Taryn Morman netted six points each. Carmen Simpson and Karina Sotelo each made a field goal for two points.
The eighth grade struggled to score in the opening minutes of the contest, but their aggressive defense kept Groveton off the boards as well. The Lady Bison came up with eight first quarter points and held the Lady Indian’s to one. Buffalo outscored Groveton seven to four in the second quarter to lead 15-5 at the half. The Lady Bison came up with eight points in each of the last two stanzas and gave up one basket a quarter for the 31-9 final.
Hannah Laningham poured in fourteen points to lead all scorers. Hailey Laningham and Taylor Rutledge each converted six points. Katelyn Torti and Ashley Stubbs both threw in a basket. Jessica Presutti tacked on a free throw.
The Lady Bison will return to action after the Christmas break when they host New Waverly on Thursday, January 7th.
