Winter hits hard; slows cotton, peanut harvests
      COLLEGE STATION - - Winter weather slowed the cotton harvest in the western parts of the state, according to Texas AgriLife Extension Service personnel. The wet, cold weather also slowed or halted other field activities, but where there was accompanying moisture, winter pastures and wheat benefited, AgriLife Extension reports stated.

     AUSTIN – (Dec. 7, 2009) For the week ending Dec. 5, feeder cattle prices at Texas auctions were $1 to $5 higher per hundredweight as buyers caught up with post-holiday orders. Fed cattle prices were lower as light demand and ample supplies of beef and other meats pressured the market.
