Junior High Lady Bison cruise through Corrigan-Camden The two junior high Lady Bison basketball teams cruised through Corrigan- Camden last Monday night. The seventh grade won 29- 17, and the eighth grade won 28-7. Corrigan-Camden had a definite height advantage over the seventh grade Lady Bison, and used it to take the early lead. The Lady Bulldogs outscored the Lady Bison 6-1 in the first three minutes. The Lady Bison responded with twenty-one unanswered points over the course of two and one half periods. Buffalo led 7-6 at the end of the first quarter and 14-6 at the half. The Lady Bison poured in ten points in the third quarter while holding the Lady Bulldogs to a three point field goal. Corrigan-Camden outscored the Lady Bison eight to five in the final six minutes, but it was too little, too late. Taryn Morman led all scorers with twelve points. Marissa Jones netted seven points. Emma Shaw and Carmen Simpson contributed five and four points, respectively. Lauren Helmcamp tacked on a free throw. The eighth grade Lady Bison played near perfect defense the first half, giving up only one point. Buffalo scored seven and eight points in the first two quarters to lead 15-1 at the half. The Lady Bison almost doubled their output in the third period, netting 11 points to Corrigan-Camden’s two. Both teams chipped in four points in the fourth quarter for the 28-7 final. Hannah Laningham and Hailey Laningham led all scorers with thirteen and eight points, respectively. Chelsea Brewer, Taylor Rutledge and Katelyn Torti each scored a basket. Katie Glick added a free throw. |
