Dorothy Nell Bates

Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Bates, age 88, were held on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Sardis Baptist Church. Interment followed the service at Sardis Cemetery. Rev. Billy Bob Evans officiated. Mrs. Bates was born October 22, 1921 in Jewett and passed away November 26, 2009 at Limestone Medical Center in Groesbeck.

She was a homemaker and Baptist by faith and lived most of her life in Jewett when not traveling with her husband’s work.

She is survived by one son, Jimmy Bates of Jewett; one daughter, Frances Bates Warford of Spring; three grandsons, Darryl Bates & wife Teresa of Centerville, Darren Bates of Jewett, and Matt Warford of Baytown; four granddaughters, Kim Lacey & husband Danny of Centerville, Tatia Warford of Baytown, Amy Schram of Willis, and Jenny Warford of Baytown; nine great-grandchildren, Krystal Brewer & husband J.W., Kendra Harris & husband Brian, Kraig Bates, Dalton Bates, Brody Bates, Park Lacey & wife Allison, Alex Lacey, Bryan Schram, and Ben Warford-Johnston; four great-great-grandchildren, Allison Brewer, Luke Brewer, Madison Lacey, and Jace Lacey; two sisters, Bobbie Jean Pertl of Pasadena and Claudine Duren of Tulsa, OK; two sister-in-laws, Opal Walker of Houston and Dorothy Walker of Fairfield; other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Bates was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Bates.
