Community Calendar
      The City of Oakwood will be holding its 2nd annual Christmas on the Corner this Saturday, December 12, 2009 on the Oakwood State Bank corner. It will be from 2:00PM until dusk. The community is welcome to come join in the festivities and meet Santa. There will be lots of free games for the children and “door” prizes for adults and children throughout the day.

The Lord’s Pantry
      The Lord’s Pantry cannot function without the many volunteers that are so willing to help others, and without food. We have both in abundance and we are so thankful. I am convinced that Leon County is home for the most giving people and caring people anywhere!

Airman Sean Tice graduates basic training
      Air Force Airman Sean L. Tice graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

NORTH CREEK BAPTIST CHURCH
      The kickoff of the Christmas season has been accomplished and we’re off to a good start. The turnout for Thanksgiving/ Christmas dinner was impressive and the food was it’s usual outstanding. Most of the members elected to stay home and attend the dinner as well as many family members who joined with us to make it a momentous occasion.

Early filings for office reported
      Thursday, December 3rd was the initial day for filing for office. Republican Chairperson Marva Beck reported on early filings by three incumbents and one new candidate. Judge Byron Ryder has filed for County Judge, Commissioner Dean Player for Commissioner, Precinct 4, and Doug Preston for Justice of the Peace, Precinct 4.

AARP Meeting December 15th
      Buffalo Chapter # 2870 will meet at regular time at 12:00 p.m. noon in the Buffalo Civic Center. Larry McLain, partnership assistant of the U.S. Bureau, will be our speaker. Our president, Richard Dahlgren, works in conjunction with Mr. McLain to insure a complete and accurate 2010 census report of this area.

      The Buffalo EE Club met on November 18, 2009 at the beautiful home of Joann Zapolski. The meeting was with twelve members and two guest present. All members were reminded to bring a new toy, covered dish, and an auction item for the County EE Christimas party on December 9th.
