Junior High Lady Bison stymie Anderson-Shiro Lady Owls

The junior high Lady Bison stymied the Anderson Shiro Owls last Monday night, scoring lopsided victories on three levels. The seventh grade B team, seventh grade A team and the eighth grade A team combined for 123 points throughout the course of the evening and gave up a meager 23.
The seventh grade B team started things off with a 10-3 victory over the Lady Owls. Jamie Phillips scored four points to pace the Lady Bison. Emily Gentry, Maranda Bailey and Maria Cortez all scored a basket as well.
Ball-handling was key in the seventh grade A team contest. Buffalo poured in fifteen unanswered points in the first three minutes. At that time, the Lady Bison pulled off the press and cruised to a 76-2 victory over Anderson-Shiro. Buffalo finished the first quarter with nineteen points and led 37-2 at the half. The Lady Bison more than doubled their score in the second half while holding the Lady Owls scoreless.
Emma Shaw led four Lady Bison in double digits with fourteen points. Marissa Jones bucketed thirteen while Kendall Lee and Taryn Morman each netted ten. Carmen Simpson and Karina Sotelo poured in eight and seven points, respectively while Macey Jonas added six. Essence Dews scored four points. Lauren Helmcamp and Erykah Anderson each provided two.
Buffalo's eighth graders outscored Anderson-Shiro in every quarter on the way to a 37-11 win. The Lady Bison doubled the Lady Owls' output in the first quarter for a 10-5 advantage. A nine-three effort in the second quarter gave Buffalo a 19-8 lead at the halfway mark. Buffalo poured in ten points in the third and six in the fourth for the 37-11 final.
Hannah Laningham led all scorers with sixteen points. Hailey Laningham ripped the nets for eight points while Shelby Ballard swished in six. Mickie Chitwood netted five points. Chelsea Brewer and Evan Jones each connected on a free throw.
Buffalo will travel to Corrigan-Camden on Monday following Thanksgiving.
