Centerville Tigers win one and lose one in early games

Paul’s Photo The Tigers won their season opener against Normangee 45-32 in Normangee on November 17th. Michael Gwosdz led in points scored with 10, and Clay Hardee and Jonathan Cloud chipped in with 8 each. Gwosdz, Hardee, and Jamal High had 9 rebounds each. Gwosdz led the way in assists with 5.

The Tigers traveled to Westwood on November 24th but came away on the short end of a 56-43 score. The Tigers were led in points by Michael Gwosdz with 19 and Clay Hardee tossed in seven. Hardee gathered 10 rebounds and Jamel High grabbed 8 to lead the Tigers.

The junior varsity had a nail biter against Elkhart on November 23 and escaped with a 45-44 victory. The Ti- gers had a 7-9 deficit after one quarter but led 23-20 at half time. They led by one 33-32 going into the 4th quarter and each team scored 12 points in that quarter to allow the Tigers to escape with a narrow 45-44 win. Evan Watson and Brenton Pickens scored several points and collected both offensive and defensive rebounds to spark the team.

The loss against Westwood brought the season record for the varsity to 3-1 and the Tigers travel to Hempstead on December 1st to try for win number 4. On December 3-5 they travel to Riesel to compete in a tournament.
