State Farm and KBTX-TV honor Meredith Shaw

Buffalo High School senior Meredith Shaw has been named as the recipient of the 2009-10 State Farm Texas Scholar Athlete, in recognition of her outstanding achievements both in the classroom and on the competition court. Meredith will be presented with her award on December 1 before the varsity girls’ game (approximately 5:45). The presentation will be made by State Farm Agent Karen Thomas, and will also make Meredith a member of their Texas Scholar Athlete Hall of Fame, for “the leadership and citizenship characteristics which State Farm is proud to honor in the young men and women who will lead our communities and world in the near future.”

Meredith, who is the daughter of BHS coaches Ron and Lori Shaw, was also honored as one of the KBTXTV’s Classroom Champions, and was featured on a Channel 3 News highlight segment on Thanksgiving night. She participates in volleyball, basketball and softball, is President of the BHS National Honor Society, Student Council Vice President, Senior Class Secretary and carries a 3.7+ GPA. She’s planning

to major in journalism with an emphasis in public relations.
