Commissioners Court okays sick leave extension

by Vanessa Goodwyn

One county employee certainly had reason to be giving thanks this holiday, after commissioners and Judge Byron Ryder decided to allow Employee #347 (unnamed) to receive two additional weeks’ worth of sick leave from the sick leave pool. The sick leave pool consists of funds which county employees have donated from their unused acquired leave, and is made available on a case-by-case basis when justified by an extensive medical emergency. The decision was made during an Executive Session which took up most of a brief meeting of the Leon County Commissioners on Wednesday, November 25.

The rest of the meeting was very routine in nature: - The court established a Fraud and Risk Committee consisting of Commissioner Dean Player, Susan Pugh and Judge Ryder. - A pipeline agreement for Jay Management, LLC was approved for road crossings on CR 147 in Precinct #1, and the county accepted a $1000 cash bond from that company.
