Vandals strike at Lone Star Community Center --- again

By Sherry Matney

Pushing this hay bale into the fence may have seemed like fun but the result will be costly for someone, especially the Lone Star Community Center. Sherry’s Shots Pushing this hay bale into the fence may have seemed like fun but the result will be costly for someone, especially the Lone Star Community Center. Sherry’s Shots This weekend a hay bale which had been used to decorate the Lone Star Community Center for Halloween was pushed into a metal fence with enough force to break the fence. This obviously seems like fun to someone but it could be more than that.

Depending upon the cost to repair the fence this act of mischief could become a misdemeanor, which can be pun- ishable by fines or jail time. In the United States, misdemeanors are crimes with a maximum punishment of 12 months of incarceration, typically in a local jail. Those people who are convicted of misdemeanors are often punished with probation, community service or part-time imprisonment.

This is not the first incident of vandalism, for several months the grounds have been torn up on a regular basis by someone or ones who enjoy turning in circles until the lawn is destroyed.

The Leon County Sheriff’s Department has been contacted but it is a reality that someone must come forward who has witnessed these acts when they occur. Members of the Lone Star Community Center plead with those who see anyone or anything who might be suspicion to please report to the Sheriff’s Department.
