Texas monthly oil and gas statistics OCTOBER PERMITS TO DRILLThe Commission issued a total of 1,003 original drilling permits in October 2009 compared to 2,693 in October 2008. The October total included 808 permits to drill new oil and gas wells, 27 to re-enter existing well bores, and 168 for re-completions. Permits issued in October 2009 included 260 oil, 174 gas, 537 oil and gas, 23 injection, zero service and nine other permits. SEPTEMBER CRUDE OIL PRODUCTION Texas preliminary September 2009 crude oil production averaged 897,156 barrels daily, up from 859,781 barrels daily average of September 2008. The preliminary Texas crude oil production figure for September 2009 is 26,914,676 barrels, up from 25,793,419 barrels reported during September 2008. OCTOBER OIL AND GAS COMPLETIONS In October 2009, operators reported 477 oil, 575 gas, 63 injection and four other completions compared to 988 oil, 1,277 gas, 220 injection and three other completions during October 2008. Total well completions for 2009 year to date are 13,575 down from 14,030 recorded during the same period in 2008. Operators reported 469 holes plugged and four dry holes in October 2009 compared to 652 holes plugged and four dry holes in October 2008. SEPTEMBER NATURAL GAS PRODUCTION Texas oil and gas wells produced 553,618,142 Mcf (thousand cubic feet) of gas based upon preliminary production figures for September 2009, up from the September 2008 preliminary gas production total of 503,579,264 Mcf. Texas production in September 2009 came from 140,298 oil and 90,805 gas wells. |
