Trinity Tigers trump Lady Panthers The Oakwood Lady Panthers basketball team traveled to Trinity to play against the Lady Tigers on Tuesday. Unfortunately, this cat fight did not end well for the Lady Panthers. In the first quarter, Oakwood managed to barely pull ahead of Trinity with 13- 12. The second quarter only brought in 6 more points for OHS to Trinity's 13. The Lady Panthers did not fare any better in the third quarter; only putting up 7 points to the Lady Tiger's 19. In the last quarter of the game, Oakwood pull out 8 points to Trinity's 16. The final score was Oakwood 34 - Trinity 60. Felicia Williams had a good rebound night with 12. She also had a steal, 3 assists, and 5 points. Angela Johnson picked up 8 rebounds and 4 points for the Lady Panthers. Ava Walker had 7 rebounds, a steal, and 2 assists. Christina Hudson had 10 rebounds, 2 assists, and was the leading scorer for OHS with 10. Lisa Stevens had the most well-rounded night with 3 rebounds, 3 steals, an assist, and 9 points. Jocelyn Williams had a couple of steals and put up 5 points. Nakethia Crenshaw had a couple of rebounds and assists, while Shametris Owens picked up a point for the Lady Panthers. Melanie Minter had an assist and Ashley Owens had 2 rebounds and an assist. Head Coach Dunn said his girls just did not shoot well during this game. "We had open shots, they just didn't go in. We shot 24% from the floor! We're not going to win a lot of games shooting like that. We have to find our shots, and we have to get better defensively. They had ‘way too many open shots on the perimeter." Dunn is hoping for a much better outcome on the Lady Panther's home court Friday night against Frankston, stating firmly, "We're going to work together to get better." The tipoff set for 6:00 p.m., |
