Hilltop Lakes Golf News LADIES NEWS The last meeting of 2009 was held at 8:30 am. on November 19. Officers for 2010 were elected and announced as: President - Barbara May, 1st Vice President - Georgia Gibson, 2nd Vice President - Garlyn Person, Secretary - Gladys Watson and Treasurer - Nelda Ewald. Co-Playday Directors will be: Paula Chicken and Garlyn Person (9 Hole) and Shirley Schiamara and Leonor Holland (18 Hole). Co-Social Directors will be JoAnn Pool and Quinny Edwards, and Faye Weller will serve as Parliamentarian. This was the last day of the WGA Thursdays Playday for 2009. The main game of the day was "ACE of the YEAR (LOW NET)". Qualified players were those who had won ACE for any month during 2009. 18-Hole ACE winner for 2009 was Helen Prejean. (There was a tie between Helen Prejean and Lorraine Guilford with 72, but Helen beat Lorraine on the Scorecard Playoff.) In other play: 1st Low Net - Lorraine Guilford, 2nd Low Net - Shirley Schiamara (There was a tie between Shirley Schiamara and Nancy Verhines. Shirley beat Nancy on the Scorecard Playoff.) 3rd Low Net - Nancy Verhines. There was also a match for NON Ace players, who played "4 Person Team (Total Net)". The winning team included: Marcia Rector, Joyce Perkins, Carolyn Tibbits, and Faye Weller. Ruth Wallace won Low Putts. Her putter was on FIRE and she won with only 27 putts. Chip-Ins were recorded by Lorraine Guilford on #13 and Faye Weller on #1. Closest to the Pin honors went to Marcia Rector who was right on target and won closest on #3 and #15, and Shirley Schiamara was closest on #10. The 9-Hole ACE for 2009 is Marcia Waller with 32. In Low Putts there was a tie between Betty Von Bieberstein and Marcia Waller with 17 putts. The NON Ace players match was won by the newest member, Angela Peloquin with 38. Anna Rigsby took Low Putts with 18. Congratulations to all winners. The installation of our appointed officers and the Christmas Luncheon will be December 3 at noon in the Tonkawa Room. The luncheon will be paid from the WGA Treasury, however, all members who will be attending need to leave a $10 DEPOSIT at the Pro Shop Desk. This deposit is refunded when you show up at the Luncheon. Sign up and pay by Tuesday, December 1. Members may not pay on the day of the luncheon as the Chef must have an actual head count in advance. Membership dues for 2010 can be paid for at the luncheon. Dues continue to be $30 for active players and $15 for social members. We ask everyone to join and pay dues for 2010 at the luncheon. MEN’S NEWS The men held their annual awards banquet on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009. The banquet was well attended and presided over by vice-president Jack Stork. Stork announced the results and presented the awards of the annual tournament. The 2009 MGA Tournament Championship Flight was won by Bobby Howell, with 2nd Loren Westbrook, 3rd Doug Sassman, and 4th Greg Waller. First Flight winner Sam Saxton was followed by 2nd Darwin Wallace, 3rd Charlie Cornelius, and 4th Randy Schiamara. In the Second Flight, it was 1st Bob Beevers, 2nd Ron Ellett, 3rd Bennie Yohe and 4th Eric Wood. Third Flight results are: 1st Graig Warren, 2nd Jack Wimbish, 3rd Harold Ellett, 4th Les Whitworth. The Fourth Flight was won by Clyde Dowell, with 2nd Mark Perkins, 3rd Mike Mc- Caslin and 4th Wallace Holland. Others recognized at the awards banquet included: Bill Fathke (Highest money winner for the Wednesday Playdays) and Gary O'Neal (MGA member playing the most rounds). The meeting also included the Election of Officers. Results of the November 18th Playday, in which the format of the game was Two Man Best Ball - Pick Your Partner: FIRST FLIGHT - First Place Team (score of 61) Randy Shiamara and Jack Stork; Second (63) Doug Sassman and Bill Fathke; Third (65) Gibb Kizer and Jim Ramsey, Fourth (65) Bob Tibbits and Rick Shuff. SECOND FLIGHT: First (61) Don Peloquin and Byron Hudgens; Second (62) Jerry Johnson and Mark Perkins; Third (62) Doug Fields and Hugh Rigsby; Fourth (63) Terry Edwards and Vernon VonBieberstein. Placing Closest to the Pin on Par Threes were: #3 - Terry Hinton (14'2"); #7 - Wayne Brougher (8'11"); #10 - Jerry Johnson (6'4"); and #15 - Dennis Pruitt (7'10"). |
