The Varsity Lady Bison basketball team moved to .500 Friday night with a win over Hearne, 53-49. Earlier in the week, Buffalo dropped a hard-fought decision to Mexia, 47-60. More ... The All-District Volleyball Team selections have been announced, and Buffalo could boast strong representation on the District 21-2A teams. More ... Fresh off their last football game and with only one week of basketball practice under their belts, the Bison opened the 2009-10 season with a fiercesome opponent in the 3-A Lorena Leopards. LHS can boast size, depth, speed and experience and are already well into their roundball season -- and it showed on the court. More ... Buffalo’s junior varsity girls had the bad luck to play Mexia three times in one week. Buffalo hosted Mexia for non-district games on Tuesday before both teams attended the Groesbeck Tournament over the weekend. The Lady Bison met Mexia in pool play on Thursday and again in bracket play on Saturday. The Black Cats were overpowering with a physical full-court press in every match-up. More ... The junior high Lady Bison opened the 2009-10 season with wins over Centerville Monday night. The seventh grade won 30-8 over the Lady Tigers while the eighth graders secured a 26- 12 victory. Centerville won a late-scheduled B contest. More ... The Lady Tigers of Centerville High School were well represented on the District 21AA All-District teams. LeAnne Jones was voted the Most Valuable Player in the district. Sarah Mutschler was picked Setter of the Year, and Kelsey Lagrone was selected Defensive Player of the Year. More ... The Oakwood Lady Panthers basketball team traveled to Trinity to play against the Lady Tigers on Tuesday. Unfortunately, this cat fight did not end well for the Lady Panthers. More ... The district champion Lady Cougars garnered many of the awards as the District 20AA All-District teams were chosen, including two superlatives: Chelby Stanford was named Setter of the Year and Newcomer of the Year went to Amy Holt. More ... This is not the way Oakwood thought it would start off the basketball season... with a loss. The Frankston Indians raided the Panther home court Friday night and went home with a 60-48 win. More ... For the first time in the Lady Panther’s history they advanced to the semi-finals in San Marcos, where they were matched against Louise. NHS dropped the first game 25-12 but came back and won the second game 25- 23. Louise then rallied and won Game Three 25-18 and Game Four 25-21 to advance to the finals against Bronte. Louise defeated Bronte on 11-21 to win the state championship. More ... Chad Nelson of Buffalo, who has traded in his purple and gold silks for the green and white uniform of Lon Morris Junior College, represented the Bearcats in the Junior College Nationals Cross Country meet in Peoria, Illinois on November 14. There were 250 competitors in the 8- K (5-mile) race and Nelson finished in the Top 100 Americans in the international competition. More ... |
