Cotton stalk destruction deadline extended for Zone 7, Area 1
      AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Agriculture announced today that the cotton stalk destruction deadline has been extended for cotton growers in Zone 7, Area 1 due to weather factors, including heavier than normal rainfall that prevented fields from being workable during normal harvest and destruction time periods.

Turkey Day at OISD
      OISD celebrated Thanksgiving a little early with a lunch of turkey and dressing. Some of the younger classes wore Indian headbands to represent the first Thanksgiving. Parents and grandparents enjoyed having the opportunity to celebrate with the students by having lunch with them. This is a long standing tradition that will continue grow as Oakwood continues to grow.

TDA Market Recap November 16, 2009
     AUSTIN – (Nov. 16, 2009) For the week ending Nov. 14, 2009, feeder cattle prices at Texas auctions were mostly $2 to $4 lower per hundredweight with a few locations steady and some $6 lower. Declining fed cattle and higher grain prices pressured markets. Fed cattle prices fell by nearly $3 on lower beef prices and lighter processor demand for the upcoming holiday week.
