For the second year in a row, the BHS football team made the playoffs, much to the delight of Bison fans. Unfortunately, for the second year in a row, Buffalo drew Newton in their first playoff game and that team is now ranked among the top four teams in the state. On Thursday night the Bison and Eagles met at the Groveton High School stadium to duke it out and see who would advance. More ... The Bison football team earned a playoff spot this year, and many individuals were selected to receive honors as the 21-2A All District teams were announced. Topping the list, freshman running back Jose Dominguez earned the superlative “Newcomer of the Year” in a unanimous vote. More ... This time last year, the Lady Bison began the season with a loss to no-volleyball Riesel, a former district opponent that was already in mid-season form when the season began. Tuesday night was a different story. Both Buffalo teams picked up lopsided victories over the Lady Indians to set the stage for the 2009-2010 campaign. More ... The Centerville Lady Tigers defeated Franklin 25-21, 25-12, and 25-21 on November 13th at U-T Tyler to reach the finals against undefeated White Oak sporting a 43-0 record and the number 2 ranking in the state polls. Franklin proved to be a worthy opponent and the 1st and 3rd games were close but the Tigers proved to be too tough. More ... The Oakwood Lady Panthers traveled to Alto Friday for their first basketball game of the season. In the first quarter, OHS was ahead with a score of 10-4. Alto came back strong in the second quarter but Oakwood edged them out, 13-12. Oakwood dominated the third quarter, picking up another 14 points to Alto's 8. More ... Well, it is official. Volleyball is over for the 2009-2010 school year. Although the Oakwood Lady Panthers did not win the district race, they did impress the All- District panel. More ... The Normangee Lady Panthers defeated district foe Iola in a thrilling 5 set match at U-T Tyler on November 14th to advance to the final four in San Marcos on November 19-21. The previous day the Panthers defeated Detroit in the regional semi-finals to advance to the regional finals against Iola. More ... The Leon Cougars traveled to Athens to tangle with Garrison on November 13th and hung tough for one half and trailed 35-28 at halftime. The Cougars added 2 more touchdowns in the second half but couldn’t contain the running game of Garrison as Garrison added 27 points to pull out a 62-40 victory. More ... The Leon Lady Cougars fell in 5 games to the undefeated White Oak Ladynecks 18-25, 25-22, 25-15, 14-25, and 7-15 in Athens on November 10th. After losing the first game the Cougars rallied to win the next two games. White Oak took the fourth game and forced the 5th and deciding game. Both teams swapped points in the 5th game until the Ladynecks pulled away and won 15-7. More ... Ladies results November 12 - A mistake was made on last week's news for the 9-Hole ladies.
