Robbie Adelle Smith Stripling

Adelle Stripling, 92 was born Aug. 27, 1917 and entered life eternal on Nov. 9, 2009 in Dallas, Tx. She grew up in Buffalo, Texas where she was valedictorian of her high school class. Further education began at Sam Houston College for two years and ended with a BA degree from the University of Texas at Austin.

She married Allen A. Stripling on Dec. 19, 1942, and after WWII they became residents of Dallas, where they raised their three daughters. In 1946, she and Allen joined Oak Cliff United Methodist Church where they served in all phases of church work for almost 60 years.

Adelle was a dedicated DISD elementary teacher for over seventeen years. She loved to see her students grow in self-confidence and wisdom. She was also a mentor to many new teachers who greatly appreciated her guidance.

She is survived by her loving husband, Allen Stripling, of sixty-seven years; three daughters, Janet Stripling, Mary Calloway and husband, Mike and Ruth Holland and husband, Rick, and sister, Velma Gordon, all of Dallas; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Her family was most important to her, and she will be greatly missed.

A private graveside service was held 11:00 AM in the Buffalo City Cemetery on Saturday, November 14, 2009.

Walters Buffalo Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
