OHS Honors Seniors
OHS held its Senior Night before the last football game of the year on Friday.

OHS held its Senior Night before the last football game of the year on Friday. This time honored tradition has Seniors walk their parents or guardians down the football field while their accomplishments are share with the crowd. At mid-field, the Seniors present a rose to their loved ones as a thank you for all of their support.

This year, Oakwood has thirty graduating seniors. That is more than any other class since the '80s. Those in attendance included:
Eric Ballard who is the son of Adrian and Priscilla Spurlock and Joe Turner of Oakwood. He has been on the Panther football team for four years and earned 2nd team offense honors. Ballard is also a member of the OHS track team where he was an area qualifier in discus and shot put. He played basketball for three years, was named newcomer of the year, and was 2nd team district. He was voted as the 2006-2007 Homecoming King as well. After graduation, Ballard plans to attend college or perhaps join the navy.
Randall Dunn is the son of Charles and Staci Dunn of Oakwood. He has been a member of the Panther football team for four years, track for three years, baseball for two years, and the power lifting team for three years. Dunn plans on going to college but still is undecided about his major.

J.P. Hicks is the son of Thomas and Shannon Nicholson of Oakwood. He has been on the Oakwood football and track teams for four years and the basketball team for two years. He has been a UIL Academics participant for four years and in FCA for two years. Hicks plans to attend Navarro college for two years and then transfer to a larger university.
Angela Johnson is the daughter of Cassandra Dawson and was escorted by her aunts, Rosetta Page and Alicia Dawson. She has been a member of the Lady Panther Volleyball team for one year, the basketball team for 3 years and on the softball and cross country track teams for one year. She was also a cheerleader for a year. Johnson has participated in UIL Academics for three years and has been a member of the yearbook staff for one year. Her plans include attending college after graduation.

Randall Dunn with parents Charles and Staci Dunn. Melanie Minter is the daughter of John and Ka-Lynn Minter of Oakwood. She has been on the volleyball and track teams for two years and the basketball team for one year. She has been a member of the Oakwood National Honor Society for two years. She is a member of 4-H and has been a cheerleader/Panther Mascot for a year.
Joel Murray is the son of Angela Murray of Oakwood. Has been on the Panther football team for one year and the track team for two years. He has been a member of the student council for a year as well. Murray plans to attend a technical school after graduation.
Mary Rantala is the daughter of Neil Rantala and Mitzie Malina of Oakwood. She has been a member of the Lady Panther Volleyball and track teams for two years. She has also been a cheerleader and a UIL Academics participant where she was a Regional Qualifier. She was in One Act Play too. Rantala plans on attending college but has not decided on a major yet.
Cody Salmon is the son of Sara Calvillo. His plans after graduation include attending a junior college or a technical school.
Lisa Stevens is the daughter of Bill Stevens and Valerie Davenport. She has been on the Lady Panther Volleyball team for four years, basketball team for two years, and the track team for three years. She was 2nd team all district in volleyball in 2007-2008 and 2008-2009. Stevens has been a high school rodeo participant for the past four years as well. She was the 2007-2008 champion pole bender and a state high school rodeo qualifier. She has been in UIL Academics and One Act Play for three years. She was the 2009 Homecoming Queen. Stevens has plans to attend TVCC and

Ava Walker is the daughter of Gladys Walker of Oakwood. She was escorted by her mother and her sister, Alva Walker. She has been on the Lady Panther Volleyball team for three years, basketball for four years, track for two years, cheerleading for two years, and softball for one year. She has been a member of the National Honor Society for three years, FCA for one year, a student council member for two years, and a Leon County Youth Board member for one year. Her plans include attending Blinn College and then transferring to the University of North Texas.
Jocelyn Williams is the granddaughter of Bobbye Bullock of Oakwood. She has been a member of the Lady Panther Volleyball and basketball teams for four years. She has been a cheerleader for four years as well. She has been a UIL Academics participant for four years and was a regional qualifier in news writing for two years and feature writing for one year. She has been in National Honor Society for three years, FCA for for one year, on student council for two years, and on the Leon County Youth Board for one year. She was the 2009 Prom Princess, Most Beautiful, and the 2008 Homecoming Queen. Williams plans to attend junior college
