Cub Scouts study animals

The Oakwood Cub Scouts spent the month of October studying animals you might see on a jungle safari. Each Scout studied a different animal and made a presentation during the monthly pack meeting. There was a lion, a tiger, a giraffe, and an elephant.
After their animal presentations, including wearing masks they had made, the Scouts showed off their leaf rubbing jungles and spoke about the importance of the Outdoor Code to preserve nature for our future. The Cubmaster's Minute reminded parents of the importance of their support to make Scouting, and their sons, a success. Much to the amusement of the audience, the Scouts told jungle animal themed jokes like, "Why does a lion roar?... Because he'd feel pretty silly saying oink!"
During the awards portion of the program, senior Scout, and 2nd year Webelos, Devon Missildine received his Webelos uniform shirt. It is khaki instead of blue and will distinguish him from the rest of the Scouts. This shirt will carry him over when he joins a Boy Scout Troop at the end of this school year. Kalan Rodriguez received his Progression to Ranks emblem. On this emblem, he will hang colored beads that represent his many achievements on his trail to becoming a Wolf Scout. Felix Vargas also received his Progression to Ranks and will be working on his Wolf achievements. Isaac Smith, the Pack's youngest Scout, earned his very first badge, the Bobcat badge. Now, armed with his new Tiger Cub hat, neckerchief, slide, Progression to Ranks, and handbook, he can begin on his Tiger Cub trail.
The Scouts of Pack 610 are looking forward to November's theme, Heroes.
