The Jewett Neighbor Hood Watch group will be meeting this Thursday, November 19, 2009, at 6:00pm, at the Jewett City Hall everyone is invited to attend. There will also be a bake sale held on Saturday, November 21, 2009. Ladies will be set up north of the Flea Market. Look for them and help support the Jewett Neighborhood Watch Program.

Leona Family Night will be held Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, at 6:00 P.M. at the Leona Community Center. Please note the new time. We will be having a special Thanksgiving program with the ceremonial carving of the turkey. Everyone present will have the opportunity to tell what they are thankful for. The Anderson County Republicans will be hosting an evening with Debra Medina, candidate for Texas governor (www.medinafortexas.com). Please join your fellow conservatives on Friday, November 20th, 6:30 – 8:30 pm, at the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Hall, 927 Gardner Drive, Palestine, TX. Refreshments will be served beginning at 6:30. Ms. Medina will speak at 7:00, and take questions thereafter. The DAV Hall is located behind Mattern’s Tire, right off Highway 155 North of Palestine. BHS Project Graduation Steak Dinner, Nov. 21, 2009. Only 250 tickets sold--Dinner for two with a chance to win $10,000.00. Contact any BHS senior parent or student for ticket information.

Leon County Area Go Texan Steak Dinner and Dance will be held on November 28, 2009, at 6:00PM in the Jewett Community Center. The Leon County Area Go Texan Committee has made a commitment to the youth of Leon County. We are offering a $1000.00 scholarship to one student from each school in our county. In addition to the money we are giving, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo has made available a $15,000.00 scholarship to one student from our county. In order to accomplish these goals, we need your help. Following the steak dinner, catered by Cowboy Catering, we will push the tables back and scoot a boot to the musical stylings of Mike Hammock. Tickets are $100.00 and are good for two steak dinners and a chance to win $5000.00. There will also be a silent auction the night of the event. Only 150 tickets will be sold.
