Bison come out on short end of championship battle, 14-21
      The outcome of the District 21AA season came down to Friday night's contest between Buffalo and New Waverly. A Bison victory would have put BHS in a three-way tie for first, and NWHS was needing the win to stand alone at the top of the heap. There was plenty on the line, and the game turned out to be everything that a championship game SHOULD be.

      The JV Bison faced a tough foe in the New Waverly Bulldogs at NWHS last Thursday evening, and the two teams played a Battle Royale that gave fans from both camps plenty to cheer about.

Junior distance runner represents BHS at Reg’l Cross- Country meet
      Buffalo High School junior Jessy Perez. running cross country for the first time this fall, qualified for the Regional Cross Country meet which was held at Humble’s Lone Star College on Saturday morning. Perez ran the 3.1 mile course in a very respectable 20:30, finishing in the middle of the pack of 2A distance runners.

Lady Bison show well in scrimmage
      The Lady Bison launched their 2009- 2010 basketball season on Saturday when they hosted Mildred for scrimmage action. Buffalo will be the site of the season opener Tuesday night against Riesel. Action will begin at 5:00.

BJHS 7th Graders shut down in New Waverly
      The BJHS seventh graders found themselves facing an intimidating foe at New Waverly on Thursday afternoon, and the big, bad Bulldogs handed the Bison their only loss of the season, 26-8.

Braggin’ rights -- two years without a loss!
      Staying true to form, the 8th Grade Bison finished the season with a victory over the New Waverly Bulldogs, keeping a two-year winning streak alive.

Centerville Lady Tigers defeat Buna and advance in the playoffs
      The Lady Tigers continued their winning ways by defeating Buna in three games at Conroe on November 5th. The Tigers dominated in the games and will play Warren at Lufkin Middle School at 6:30 p.m. on November 10th.

Centerville Tigers lose squeaker to Groveton
      The Centerville Tigers traveled to Groveton on November 6th and lost a close 28-26 contest in their final game of the season. The Tigers jumped to a 20-0 advantage after the first quarter but injuries to several players hurt them on offense and defense. The injured players Clay Hardee, Michael Gwosdz, and Seth Mahaffey played both ways and the injuries occurred early in the game.

Leon Cougars run by Marlin Bulldogs 27-20 to gain a playoff berth
      The Cougars continued their strong ground game rushing for 270 yards to down the Marlin Bulldogs on November 6th in Jewett. The Cougars knew if they win they are in the playoffs and lose wait until next year.

Lady Cougars win their first playoff game
      The Lady Cougars defeated Elysian Fields 25-17, 25-21, and 25-22 at Tyler Junior College in the first playoff game for the Cougars on November 5th. The Cougars have an outstanding 39-3 record this season and have improved as the season unfolded. Coach Evans has a young team with strong senior leadership provided by Kendle Charlton, Jentry Clary, and Elissa Downey.

OHS Panthers fall to the Penelope Wolverines
      The Oakwood Panthers handed over the last football game of the season to the Penelope Wolverines Friday night. The Panthers were short several players and just could not seem to hold things together. Travis Eldridge was still out with the broken arm he got against Trinidad.

      The Leveretts Chapel Junior High Lions never stood a chance against the Oakwood Panthers Thursday night. It was so one-sided that the game ended during the first part of the 4th quarter due to the 45 point mercy rule.

OHS Varsity Volleyball Season Ends
      The OHS Varsity Lady Panthers traveled to Madisonville to play North Zulch in the Bi-District playoffs. Although closely matched, North Zulch took the win. The first set was 25-13, the second was 25-19, and the third was 25-18. This loss puts the Lady Panthers out of the running and puts an end to volleyball season.
