BHS’ 2009 volleyball season comes to an End
      BHS’ volleyball season wrapped up last Tuesday night when the Lady Bison played in New Waverly. The Lady Bison went down in a four set match to the playoff bound Lady Bulldogs. Centerville will represent 21AA as the first seed. Anderson- Shiro and New Waverly tied for second, but the Lady Owls of Anderson- Shiro won the playoff Saturday to earn the second seed.

2A Division to be split
Small 2A Districts - Large 2A Districts
      With last Friday's win over Trinity, the Buffalo Bison clinched a playoff spot in District 21AA, along with Corrigan Camden and New Waverly, schools which boast over twice our enrollment. The 2A designation presently includes schools with enrollments ranging from 200 to 429 students, but that is about to change.

Bison clinch playoff spot with big win at Trinity
     Buffalo High School's varsity team headed to Trinity on Friday night, looking for a win to clinch a District 21AA playoff berth. On a perfect night for football, the Bison earned that spot with authority and thrilled their fans with a high-scoring game and near-perfect execution.

JV Bison storm Sandies
      Trinity High School could not field a junior varsity team last week, so the JV Bison hosted Grapeland in a pickup game on Thursday evening. Tate Hartley led his team at quarterback, taking the place of injured starter Austin Rayborn.

Junior High Bison triumph over Trinity
      Thursday afternoon's stormy weather backed off just in time for the junior high teams to get in their scheduled games with the trinity Tigers. It was only the fourth game of the year for the seventh graders whose season has been cut into by weather, by school closings due to illness, and game cancellations by the opposing teams. SEVENTH

Centerville Tigers lose to Corrigan- Camden, 40-7
      The Tigers hosted the Corrigan Camden team on October 30th and discovered what other teams in the district have found out -- that Camden is probably the best team in the district. The Tigers have run the ball well all year but had trouble sustaining a consistent offensive drive. Camden ran the ball 60 times and controlled the clock as the Bulldogs rolled to a 40-7 victory.

Leon’s Lady Cougars finish 10-0 in District 20-AA
Headed for State Playoffs
     By Paul K. Matney The Lady Cougars are a perfect 10-0 in district after defeating Hearne 25-6, 25-7, and 25-2 in Hearne on October 27th. The Cougars had a warm up game against Tarkington ranked number 11 in 3A on October 31st and came out victorious 25-17, 25-23, and 25-20.

Cougars fall to R-L but playoff hopes still alive
      The Leon Cougars traveled to Rosebud-Lott on October 30th and come up on the short end of a 33-20 score. LHS’ scores came on Seth Noey’s runs of 6 yards and 1 yard, and Chris Vasquez scored on a 1 yard plunge. Cason McCune kicked two extra points.

      OHS was only two games away from the district title and looking to win Friday night. The Avalon Eagles swooped in and took the game.

OISD holds Kiss the Pig Contest
      O.I.S.D. held a “Kiss the Pig” contest this week. Students were encouraged to vote for their choice of either Counselor Lori Olive, Coach Kyle Cayce, Science/4th grade teacher Tina Rayborn, or senior/quarterback Eric Ballard. Students brought in change as a fundraiser started by the Boosters. They raised $180 that will go toward scholarships.

CHS Lady Tigers com- plete regular season with a 39-1 record
      The Lady Tigers defeated Anderson 25-9, 25-11, and 25- 14 in Anderson on October 27th to wrap up a 14-0 district record and a 39-1 season mark. Their only loss was to Salado in a tournament game early in the season. The first and third games were one sided but the second game was more competitive as the Tigers won by a slim 25-21 score.

Junior Bison Cheerleader Camp 2009
      The BJHS junior high cheerleaders hosted Junior Bison Cheerleader Camp last week. Thirty-four participants attended the two-day camp after school on Tuesday and Wednesday, working on chants, cheers, and basic jumps. The little ones were then invited to cheer during the first half of Thursday’s seventh grade game, and most of the youngsters did so.
