Opinion

By Mac Shadix

The harrassing attitudes that I witnessed toward Buffalo Police Officer Craig Jefferson on the tape of the Livestock Sale incident surprised me. It was the sort of thing that you would expect from Detroit, or West LA, not Buffalo, Texas.

In our country the police are certainly subject to criticism, and should be overseen and reviewed. But there are proper forums for such actions. Letters to the Editor, voicing your opinion at political and governmental meetings, or filing legal actions if no other course seems appropriate are some of the options open to citizens.

The public has the right to professional and courteous service from our police. The police officers who put themselves between us and the chaos of the unlawful deserve the respect and cooperation of law-abiding citizens of good will.
