Mary Beth Dickey Spencer Sillers

Beloved mother, daughter, wife, sister and friend, Mary Beth Dickey Spencer Sillers, passed from this life on October 24, 2009. She was the presence of love in our lives and we are full of sorrow to see her go.

She was born on May 9, 1933 near Oakwood in Leon County, Texas, the 6th of 8 children born to Harvey Lee and Evadne Perry Dickey. They, along with her brother Lee and sisters Elsie, Pat and Nancy, preceded her to heaven.

Her greatest joy in life was her family: children Karen Reid and husband John Sherburn, Randy Spencer, Charlotte Spencer, Tracy Spencer and Mary Ann Collins and husband Randy, grandchildren Damon Reid and wife Michelle, Jessica and James Graves, Dillon and Nolan Collins, greatgranddaughter Jordan Reid, sisters Daisy Purvis, Eloise Pritchard and Ferol Trice, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Her late husbands Charles Spencer and Charles Sillers remained special in her heart.

Mary Beth gave a radiant smile and a kind word to all in her life, and we are better for sharing it with her. We have prayed for her comfort and peace, and hope that now she is dancing to great country music, bowling perfect games and laughing really loud with all those she has missed here on earth.

Our most heartfelt thanks to all of her caregivers over the many years. You made her difficult situation more bearable and touched her heart.

In lieu of flowers, her family asks that you make donations to the wonderful Joe W. Elliott Hospitality House in Lufkin, which offers a place of rest to those in medical treatment and their loved ones, or to the Hospice in the Pines, where she was able to make a peaceful and graceful exit. The address for both is 116 South Raguet Street, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

Funeral services were held Monday, October 26, 2009 in the First Christian Church of Oakwood. Interment followed in the Oakwood Cemetery.
