There will be a benefit for Charles (Slick) Matthews on October 31, 2009 from 10:00AM to 4:00PM at the Butler Center off FM 439. Slick has been diagnosed with cancer. Come join his supporters for a fish fry in his honor. The cost is $10.00 for adults and children 10 and over. All proceeds will go toward Slick’s medical costs. For children under 10, the cost is $5.00.

The Highway Tabernacle Church of God will be hosting a Revival on October 31st- -November 1st. The Church is located on Highway 75 South. Services will be led by Linda Gail Sims beginning at 6:30 p.m.For more information call 903-322-2608. The next regular meeting for Leon County Tea Party Patriots will be held in the Jewett Community Center on Monday, November 2nd at 6:00 p.m. There will be a pot luck supper for all attending. Ice tea and water will be provided as will plates and utensils.

The Oakwood EE Club will be holding their annual Bake Sale on Saturday November 7th, at the Oakwood Volunteer Fire Department located on Highway 79.
