No one was sure what to expect when the Buffalo Bison travelled to Groveton on Friday. The Indians were out for revenge for the Bison's big win in '08 and had a Homecoming crowd to impress. The men in purple and gold were anxious to make up ground lost in the district opener, which had been costly with injuries. More ... Buffalo hosted Trinity for district volleyball on Tuesday. Their previous encounter went to the Lady Bison in an epic match, ending with a 15-13 set five victory. Tuesday’s match provided no less drama as the two teams battled for the win. Trinity, down by two sets, came back to win sets three and four to force a tie breaker. More ... Fans enjoyed a special treat during Friday night’s ball game as the Little Band from Bison Land went head to head with the 70+ musicians from Groveton in the musical version of a dance-off. More ... The Bison were scheduled to host the Groveton Indians in three sub-varsity games on Thursday, but Groveton was short-handed due to eligibility, illness and injuries, and the JV game was cancelled. Their junior high was hard-hit as well, so the coaching staffs agreed to combine their 7th and 8th grade teams for one junior high game which was played at 5:00 at Brewer Field. More ... Volleyball season came to an end on Saturday for the junior high Lady Bison. Buffalo won the third place plaque in both the seventh and the eighth grade divisions at the district tournament in Onalaska. The West Zone, comprised of Anderson-Shiro, Buffalo, Centerville and New Waverly, dominated the tournament from start to finish. More ... The Lady Cougars defeated Rosebud Lott 25-10, 25-23, and 25-8 on October 13th at Jewett. The Cougars sprinted to an 8-1 advantage and coasted to a 25- 10 win in game one. Game two proved to be an exciting match as the Cougars had a 24-23 lead before they won 25-23. The third game was very similar to game number 1 as the Cougars swamped the Lions 25-8. More ... The Cougars traveled to Franklin on October 16th for their second district game against one of the favorites to win the district championship. The Lions have a strong team and came out on top 33-13. The Lions got on the scoreboard first as Darius Floyd scored on a 6 yard run and Hap Campbell booted the extra point to put the Lions on top 7-0 with 4:21 left in the opening quarter. More ... OHS may have lost to the Trinidad Trojans Friday night but that does not mean they don't still have a chance at the district title. According to Coach Tommy Tritz, "It's too early in the district race." [to count them out] More ... This week, the OHS Varsity Lady Panthers took a trip to visit the Chester Lady Jackets. Oakwood had a blast! Chester? Not so much. The Lady Panthers took all three games with 25-16, 25-14, and 25-10. Knocking Chester out of the playoffs put Oakwood another step closer to that district title. More ... The battle was fierce but the Calvert Trojans met their match this week at Panther Stadium. The end score found OJHS on top 54-51. More ... The Centerville Tigers and their running attack was too much for the Trinity Tigers as they smothered Trinity 40-8 in Centerville on October 16th. This was homecoming for Centerville and the team played with added intensity. Clay Hardee opened the scoring for Centerville on a 1 yard plunge with 5:33 left in the opening quarter. More ... The Lady Tigers remain undefeated in district 21AA with a perfect 11-0 mark by defeating Corrigan and Trinity. The Tigers traveled to Corrigan on October 13th and came home a winner 25-16, 25-11, and 25-5. The junior varsity also won 25-5 and 25-16. More ... |
