Leon County 4-H teams judge livestock
State Fair of Texas
      This past Sunday October 11, 2009, the Leon County 4-H Livestock judging team participated at the State Fair of Texas in the livestock judging contest. We came out with one senior team and three junior teams! Our Junior Teams placed 21st, 27th, and 28th and our Senior Team placed 41st.

But the worst may be over -- or not -- according to Texas AgriLife Extension Service personnel. They say producers could see another flush of armyworms depending on the weather.

TDA Market Recap October 12, 2009
     AUSTIN – (Oct. 12, 2009) For the week ending Oct. 10, 2009, feeder cattle prices at Texas auctions were mostly lower by $3 to $6 per hundredweight. Seasonally-higher numbers coming to sale and ongoing feedlot losses continued to pressure the markets. Fed cattle were also lower.
