Multiple accidents Sunday on rain-slick highway

by Vanessa Goodwyn

Rain is still welcome in Leon County, but on Sunday afternoon it proved to be a problem for drivers on I-45 who failed to slow down for road conditions. Five separate highway accidents were reported between Buffalo and Centerville in the drizzly mid-afternoon hour around 3:00, keeping Sunday's interstate traffic to a crawl for much of the afternoon.

One of the accidents occurred just outside of Buffalo at Mile Marker 178 at 2:45. A black '95 Toyota Celica driven by a Red Oak resident collided with a silver 2005 Chevy Aveo. Sheriff's deputies responded and held the scene until DPS troopers arrived, and there were no injuries reported.
