The rain peppered down on the metal roof of the Buffalo Civic Center on Sunday afternoon. Parking places were difficult to find and some who attended the Gun Show had to park out on the road. They scurried through the rain to find a dry spot inside the Center. But the rain could not deter the diehard sports enthusiast from shopping for that rifle, shotgun, knife, shells, etc.
The Leon County Gun Club held its bi-annual Buffalo Gun Show on October 3rd and 4th at the Buffalo Civic Center. The event is held in the same location every March and October and is a major fundraiser for the Gun Club.
Archie VanWey, owner of the Buffalo Sporting Goods in the Buffalo Shopping Center, said this was the 25th show; representing 12 ½ years.
Funds from the show help support the Leon County Gun Club which is located 10 miles east of Buffalo on CR 224. The Club opened in in 1993 and currently has more than 200 members.
Annual family memberships are available for $75.00 (seniors over 55 are $65.00). Dues include unlimited range use with guest privileges.
The Club holds concealed handgun license classes. Also available are hunter education classes, basic firearms instruction; monthly shooting events and activities. The Leon County 4-H rifle teams practice at the range weekly at no charge.
