Straight from The Horse’s Mouth

Laura St. John

There's no reason to be boring or bored in Buffalo! Around town there are numerous new businesses and many have grown in the last year. Take a tour with me to see what's new or has recently improved and grown in our community. It's a quick list; apologies if I have left someone out.

Tom's Mini Mart has new addition. I thought it was called the grotto or man cave, but it is 'The Watering Hole'. Gilliam's Grocery added 'Ice House America' where you can drive up and purchase ice without going inside. Davis Feed expanded exponentially last year. Love that new sign! Heart and Home offers more fun items every week. Buffalo Gal, CC Furniture & Home Decor and Bo Bo's Nursery have grown with renovations and beatifications. Patty's Petals reopened. If you haven't seen the new building Creative Cuts is in you will be amazed. You'll walk in and wonder if you're still in Buffalo, or are you in a posh big city salon? Bison Tire and Lube and Dollar General also got new buildings. The old Dollar General building is being renovated for a new business called Parts Plus. The Hampton Inn is open and employs many of our town's citizens.

We're getting more options for eating out as well. Taqueria Vazques and Rolando's Mexican Food are new. The old Exxon location is going to be a Pizza Hut. Opening next month across from the sale barn, The Stage Coach Deli will offer home made sandwiches, soups and salads in a creative and fun

old west' atmosphere. And a new service to Buffalo is Kountry Girl's Seafood. I have a sudden urge for grilled shrimp!

My favorite new teacher is Cindy Eppes and Kenneth Haynie is my favorite new police officer. We're almost there with the new high school. We have a new water tower. And this news paper's web site www.leoncountytoday. com went on line in January, getting over 1,000 hit a week.

So, bored you say? There's no excuse at THM with activities like the monthly Scrabble Tournaments and Trivial Pursuit/Pot Luck Dinner Nights. We will resume the Open Mic Night after football season. Come expand your talents at our 'Writer's Group and the 'Ooh! Aah! Wow! Artists Group'. If you think you might still be a boring person, read a book. It'll give you something to talk about.
