The sub varsity volleyball teams turned in winning performances last week, going three for three in matches. Both the ninth and junior varsity squads defeated Trinity on the road on Tuesday. The junior varsity also handed Wortham a loss on Friday.
The Lady Bison dropped the first set to Trinity’s ninth graders 22-25, but stormed back to earn a 25-6, 25-17 victory. Raven Lott served for sixteen points, including a ten point in the second set. Heather Humphries, Kylen Armstrong and Erin Trahan all served for eight. Zelneisha Lockett and Lott both had strong hitting performances. Trahan stepped in for an absent setter and helped Humphries with setting duties.
The junior varsity Lady Bison outlasted the Tigers in both sets 25-21, 25-21. Tionna Adams and Reagan Read paced Buffalo with eleven and ten service points. Samantha Atkinson, Read, Emily Grissett and Haley Ellison notched kills in the match while Adams and Laken Mc- Cabe set up the attack. Hannah Wilson, Kayla Ward and Heather Sigert provided top passing in the win.
Buffalo wrapped up an undefeated week in volleyball with a 25-19, 25-17 victory over Wortham. McCabe served it up for thirteen points in the match. Read finished with six service points.
“It isn’t often that a school goes undefeated for the week,” said head coach Lori Shaw. “The Lady Bison did just that, winning nine matches from seven B through varsity. It was a great effort by every team.”
