Leon Cougars rally to squeak by Bremond 22-19

The Leon Cougars came from behind in the 4th quarter to defeat a tough Bremond team 22-19 on September 18th at Bremond.
The Cougars got on the scoreboard on a 75-yard pass from quarterback Kirby Watson to Justin Padgett with 11:17 to go in the 1st quarter. Cason McCune drilled the extra point and Leon had a 7-0 advantage.
Dylon Lindley caught a 22-yard pass from Jonathan White for the first Bremond score and Lindley added the extra point to tie the game with 9:42 left in the second quarter.
The Cougars grabbed the lead when Chris Vasquez ran in from three yards out and McCune again added the point for a 14-7 lead with 4:42 remaining in the first half.
Bremond took the kickoff and about a minute later White tossed a 25-yard touchdown pass to Ryan Rekieta to pull Bremond within a point. Lindley missed the extra point and Leon went in at half time leading 14-13.
In the third quarter White broke loose on a 64-yard run to give Bremond the lead 19- 14. The two-point conversion attempt was no good and Bremond held a five-point lead. With 1:04 left in the game senior running back Seth Noey plowed over from the 3 yard line to put the Cougars back on top 20-19. Watson ran in for two points and left the final score 22-19 and gave the Cougars their second victory.
The Cougars had 16 first downs with 232 yards rushing and 158 yards passing for a total of 393 yards total offense. Seth Noey rushed 22 times for 95 yards and Chris Vasquez carried 17 times for 96 yards. Kirby Watson completed 6-8 for 161 yards. Justin Padgett caught one pass for 75 yards and Chris Vasquez snagged 1 for 72 yards.
