BJHS volleyball teams sweep A-S

Photo contributed by Deana Hibbard For the second week in a row, all four junior high volleyball teams won their matches. Anderson-Shiro managed to take only two sets out of ten during the night as Buffalo dominated the hardwood.

The Seventh Grade B team won 25-16, 25-16. Shekina Amos served for seven points in the first set while Mayte Compean served for nine points in the second set. Colleen Garcia was a defensive standout in the match.

The Eighth Grade B team dropped their first set 22-25, but answered with a 25-7 win to force a tiebreaker. Buffalo outlasted Anderson-Shiro 25- 23 in the third set. Meaghan Shaver served for twenty points, and Shelby Lathrop tallied nine to lead the Lady Bison.

Buffalo won the first set of the Seven A match 25-17, but Anderson-Shiro won the second set 25-23. The Lady Bison reclaimed the match with a 25-18 win in the third set. Taryn Morman and Kendall Lee led the Lady Bison with fifteen and eleven service points. Emmalea Shaw provided three assists and Marissa Jones added two as Buffalo landed five kills in the match. Cassidy Graves and Morman each had two, and Lauren Helmcamp tagged one.

The Eighth Grade A team capped off a successful night with a 25-16, 25-23 victory. Kortni Hibbard and Katie Glick served for nine and eight points, respectively, to lead the Lady Bison. Hannah Laningham added six. Buffalo kept up a solid attack during the match with Shelby Ballard and Hibbard setting up hitters Hannah and Hailey Laningham, Taylor Rutledge, Mickie Chitwood and Glick. Chelsea Brewer and Bethany Gaskins provided strong passing for the Lady Bison.

Buffalo was to travel to New Waverly on Monday. The Lady Bison will compete in the Centerville Tournament this Saturday.
