Howard William Willis

Howard Willis, age 85, was a rancher who was able to work his cows until just recently. He lived most of his life in Buffalo and the last four years near Teague. He was a Baptist by faith. He really enjoyed his work outdoors. Howard will be remembered as a “real comedian”. He dearly loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a World War II Veteran who served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Ella (Robinson) Willis; an infant daughter, Kathleen and two sisters, Geneva Cullefer and Leola Goolsby. Howard Willis passed away in a Mexia hospital.

Funeral services for Howard W. Willis were held Sunday, September 20, 2009 at 2 PM at the Walters’ Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo. Rev. Billy Bob Evans, pastor of the Marquez Baptist Church, officiated and burial was in the Antioch Cemetery of Luna near Teague.

Surviving family of Howard W. Willis include his wife, Madeline (Ezell) Willis of Teague; sons and daughters in-law, David and Diane Willis of Teague and Bobby and Debbie Willis of Mexia; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Jerry Allen of Teague and Sue and Dennis Pierce of Montgomery; brother, Oquin Willis of Onalaska; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren..

The pallbearers were Chris Barton, Gerald Barton, Tommy Allen, Sewart Allen, Jerry Allen, Joey Willis and Dennis Pierce.
