Centerville School Tax Collector provides good report The Centerville Independent School District held a meeting on September 16, 2008 in the CHS Library. Board members were all present with the exception of Kathy Gresham. Assistant Superintendent Carole Dickey discussed the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST). Senate Bill 218 of the 77th Legislature authorized the implementation of a financial accountability rating system, which is officially referred to as School FIRST. The school district’s School FIRST ratby ing is based upon an analysis of staff and student data reported for the 2007-2008 school year, and budgetary and actual financial data for the 2008 fiscal year ending August 31, 2008. The data for the report is derived from the Annual Financial Audit filed by the school district, the Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS), the academic rating of the district, and supplementary information provided by the district. The system has 24 indicators with a possible 85 points. Dickey explained each indicator and the rating received 84 points out of the 85 points, giving the district a “Superior Achievement” rating. Cathie Largent, Tax Assessor and Collector, reported on the 2008-2009 collections. A total of 92.6% ($2,635,695) of current taxes have been collected. An additional 2,8% of prior year taxes have been collected for a total of $79,647. Total collections, with penalties and interest, were $2,781,418. August minutes and August/ September bills were approved.
