      The 2009 World Championship Calf Roping Competition, sanctioned by the United States Calf Roping Association (USCRA) was held in Stephenville, Texas September 16th through September 20th.       Breakfast Bonanza was a blast! There was an attendance of 31 Leon County 4-Hers who were hungry and ready to learn! There were different food demonstrations and sampling along with some food safety and safe knife handling done by some of our 4-H members.

Bedias Creek SWCD Soil Test Incentive Program
      The Bedias Creek SWCD will assist producers, within the District area, with the cost of soil testing. The SWCD includes Leon County, Madison County, and the Northern quarter of Grimes County.   Testing must be completed through Texas A&M Soil, Water and Forage Testing Lab.

TDA Market Recap September 14, 2009
     AUSTIN – (Sept. 14, 2009) For the week ending Sept. 12, 2009, feeder cattle prices at Texas auctions were mostly $1 to $3 per hundredweight lower compared to a week ago. Fed cattle prices were modestly higher. Seasonally higher feeder supplies, feedlot losses and stagnant beef prices continue to pressure cattle markets.

      COLLEGE STATION – All of Texas received some rain in the last week, with north central parts of the state getting 5 to 6 inches, while the Panhandle and points west saw only light showers to about 1 inch, according to the National Weather Service.
