Homecoming 2009
Activities stacked up pretty tightly on Homecoming afternoon -- and some of the seniors, especially, were involved in every part. Meredith Shaw (seated) had a brief window of time to transform from varsity volleyball player to Senior Walk participant and Homecoming Queen candidate. She was able to pull it off, with help from her sister Kaitlyn and teammates Karlee Ferguson (left) and Jordyn Briscoe (right)!
Traditions are what bring folks back for reunions and Buffalo High's 2009 Homecoming was rich with the school's standard fare: the big pep rally, volleyball games, Senior Walk, the crowning of the Homecoming Queen and her court, and a win for the Bison football team. Alumni crowded into Brewer Field to see old classmates and show off their families as much as to enjoy the game.
Forty-three members of the BHS Class of 2010 were introduced during Senior Walk, an annual tradition that precedes the game. Proud family members escorted their senior at the 50-yard-line as their accomplishments were read by Principal Don Elsom.
During halftime, the Bison Band and Belles performed, then the Homecoming Queen candidates were introduced. They were: Blaize Harriman (daughter of Terry Harriman and Brenda and Randy Williams); Victoria Chapa (daughter of Dee Gonzalez and Kelly Ballard); Desiree Worthy (daughter of Brenda and Chester Bailey); Kaila Grissett (daughter of Michelle and Gerald Grissett) and Meredith Shaw (daughter of Ron and Lori Shaw). Victoria was announced as this year's Homecoming Queen, and crowned by 2009 Queen Mayra Dominguez.
Fans also had plenty to cheer about in the game as the Bison pulled off a come-from-behind win over the Wortham Bulldogs, 27-18.
