Van Dunlap

Funeral services for Mr. Van Dunlap, 80, will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2009, at 2:00p.m. at Ephesus Baptist Church near Jewett. Bro. Ray Payne will officiate. Interment will follow the services at Seale-Round Prairie Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday with the family present from 6:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Dunlap passed away on Monday, August 31, 2009, at his residence in College Station. He was born in Wichita Falls but grew up in Village Mills near Beaumont. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp shortly after World War II. Mr. Dunlap lived in Beaumont and later Houston before moving to Marquez in 1985, and had recently moved to College Station. He worked as a welder in Houston and worked for H.L.& P. after to moving to Marquez. Most recently, he had worked for Mr. James Bumpurs in Marquez designing septic systems. Mr. Dunlap was a longtime member of Ephesus Baptist Church and served as Deacon as well as taught Sunday School. He is survived by his wife of almost fifty-six years, Jackie “Snoopy” Dunlap of College Station; one daughter, Renee Filmore & husband Rick of New Ulm; two grandsons, Clayton Huet & wife Beverly of College Station and Chance Weigo & Tiffany of New Ulm; six great-grandchildren, Tori Huet, Avery Huet, Logan Jacks, Jordan Jacks, Riley Weige and Aiden Weige; one brother, Kyler Dunlap & wife Talmadge of Kountze; one sister, Gwen Smithers of Beaumont; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mr. Dunlap was preceded in death by two brothers.
