Grace Gutierrez joins elementary staff

First grade teacher Grace Gutierrez First grade teacher Grace Gutierrez Things are moving fast for Grace Gutierrez. This spring she completed her university studies, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in education with a teaching certification for Early Childhood through 8th grade. In early summer she married fellow East Texas Baptist grad Justin Gutierrez. After honeymooning in South Padre, the newlyweds relocated to Buffalo where Justin assumed his postition as the new youth minister at Bethel Baptist Church. This week Grace begins her teaching career as the new first grade teacher at Buffalo Elementary.

Grace was born in Texas but grew up in Minnesota before her family moved back to Crockett, Texas. She was homeschooled, along with her three sisters and a brother, and Grace feels her parents gave her an excellent educational background and hopes to implement some of those same strategies in her own classroom. Grace has an obvious passion for teaching, and is excited about working closely with her fellow first grade teachers, Carla Henson, Connie Easterling and Kendra Grissett.

Outside of the classroom, reading is Grace’s favorite way to relax -- when her new kitten will allow her that luxury. She will also, of course, be very involved in the activities of her new church family at Bethel Baptist.
