Texas monthly oil and gas statistics JULY PERMITS TO DRILLThe Commission issued a total of 1,016 original drilling permits in July 2009 compared to 2,183 in July 2008. The July total included 809 permits to drill new oil and gas wells, 27 to re-enter existing well bores, and 180 for re-completions. Permits issued in July 2009 included 279 oil, 185 gas, 522 oil and gas, 21 injection, zero service and nine other permits. JUNE CRUDE OIL PRODUCTION Texas preliminary June 2009 crude oil production averaged 893,024 barrels daily, up from 880,380 barrels daily average of June 2008. The preliminary Texas crude oil production figure for June 2009 is 26,790,714 barrels, up from 26,411,409 barrels reported during June 2008. JULY OIL AND GAS COMPLETIONS In July 2009, operators reported 368 oil, 471 gas, 39 injection and two other completions compared to 453 oil, 1,065 gas, 30 injection and five other completions during July 2008. Total well completions for 2009 year to date are 10,561 up from 9,312 recorded during the same period in 2008. Operators reported 1,170 holes plugged and zero dry holes in July 2009 compared to 395 holes plugged and four dry holes in July 2008. JUNE NATURAL GAS PRODUCTION Texas oil and gas wells produced 554,397,320 Mcf (thousand cubic feet) of gas based upon preliminary production figures for June 2009, up from the June 2008 preliminary gas production total of 500,369,686 Mcf. Texas production in June 2009 came from 141,223 oil and 91,192 gas wells. |
