2009 Cow Country Congress to convene The 2009 Cow Country Congress will be held on Friday, September 25, 2009 at the Corlay Farm & Cattle Co. located outside Huntsville in Dodge, Texas. The Cow Country Congress is an annual multi-county Beef & Forage Field Day conducted by the Extension Service offices of Walker, Madison, Houston, Trinity, Leon, Freestone and Anderson Counties. Field day participants will have the opportunity to visit with commercial exhibitors, participate in beef & forage presentations, demonstrations and ranch tour. The Corlay Farm & Cattle Company is a diverse agricultural business owned by Dr. Jody Crawford of Huntsville, TX. Dr. Crawford’s farm is known for its quality hay production, cattle management and progressive agribusiness practices. Dr. Crawford’s interest in wildlife management has developed into a wide range of wildlife related businesses. The ranch has an ongoing quail management & re-establishment program and is now developing a Whitetail deer breeding operations. Topics of the Cow Country Congress will include: Smart Fertilizer Planning & Utilization, Artificial Insemination & Embryo Transfer for the Small Producer, Native Forages, Forage Legumes and a Chute-Side Management Practices Demonstrations. The workshop will also showcase outstanding facilities for working both cattle and Whitetail deer. Registration is $10.00 per person. Program materials and a Chicken Fried Steak Lunch are included. A head count is needed to help us prepare for the meal and program materials. Program registration will begin at 8:30 AM.
