Straight from The Horse’s Mouth
Buffalo has a lot to offer in September and THM is happy to be a part of the action. We have an exciting Artist Group, Scrabble Tournament, a study group with Stewart Memorial Methodist Church (hosted at THM), our Writers Group, and the Annual Buffalo Stampede and Book Sale.
This month our Ooh! Aah! Wow! Artist Group invites you to join us for clay play. On Sept. 10th several "teachers" will help us with pinching techniques, coil building and simple sculpture. There will be a $2.00 fee for this class. We provide the clay and the tools, and you get to take your work of art home. After it dries we will come back together for glazing and firing. Please RSVP by the 8th. Be sure to join our group and learn about the project called 1,000 Journals. It will be a collaborative artistic adventure!
Our Scrabble tourney moves from the first Monday to the 14th this month as we will be closed on Labor Day. We have three or four game boards and run four players at each table. We keep track of our scores and after two rounds the player with the highest points gets Bragging Rights! We've been playing since January when I used to shoot for last place. But after learning from several great players I have managed to come up in the ranks. It's an easy going, fun time. There is a special Scrabble Dictionary available to lessen the pressure on our spelling skills. It's worth the time because it keeps our brains active.
Our Writer's Group will reconvene after a summer hiatus on September 17th. We have mystery and science fiction writers, romance novelists, memoirists and poets. We come together to read our works for positive feedback, and discuss various topics. The group is an asset for writers in our area who are looking to improve their craft and get published.
Here at THM every Tuesday from Sept 15 to November 17th Stewart Memorial Methodist Church is holding a 10 week study and discussion group on Dr David Jeremiah's book What In The World Is Going On? In it he identifies the 10 most important Bible prophecies. If this subject has always been a mystery to you, this study group will helpyousolveit. WITW I G O? is shocking and eyeopening but essential reading in these turbulent days. The public is invited and there is a donation of $10.00 for the book which can be picked up at the church or at THM.
During this year's Buffalo Stampede we will host our first massive sidewalk book sale. We have over two thousand titles that will go for small change. They're in excellent condition and will go for less than garage sale prices. Don't miss out on this opportunity to get amazing deals on books you've always wanted to read. We'll have free lemonade and extended operating hours. Stop by before or after the parade and on your way home from the park. Help us make this a successful sale; a portion of the proceeds will go to the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary in Leon County. We are very grateful to be able to assist our Vets.
On Friday, Sept 25th we have another Trivial Pursuit/ Pot Luck Dinner Game Night. This month's foodie theme is "Your Favorite". Anything goes. This should be interesting.
Calling all musicians! We are working on scheduling our next Open Mic Night. Stay tuned, we'll let you know as soon as we pin down a good date.
Whew, that's a lot of activities! There's something for everyone. Come join the fun. To get the details for times, book holds, reservations or any other questions please call (903-322-2180) or check our web site. www. thehorsesmouth.squarespace. com.
