Freestone County Sheriff’s Report

Ralph Billings Ralph Billings Eight year old calls 911, reports 5 year old brother just shot their Dad with a BB gun, killed him graveyard dead…..Folks, this was sounding serious. Dispatcher Leslie asked where his Dad was located, caller reports in the back yard…. where he buried him! Caller said okay for Officers to come to their residence, arrest the 5 year old and dig up their Dad….It took a little doing, but Leslie was able to get Mother to the phone……Father doesn’t even live in Texas, and nope, no homicide has occurred…. at least yet…..But there may be one when she gets off the phone with Dispatcher Leslie!

Troubles with the landlord, FCR-1241. DPS Zotz jails motorist, Mile 211, Harris County Warrant. TPD Martin jails female, US-84 at 4th, DWI. FPD Gasaway in with another, Lots of pills but no prescription. THDEMS helping get a gent up after a fall, Elm Street, recent back surgery. FPD to break-in on Mc- Donald. THDEMS to ministrokes, Cypress St.

Lady motorist 911’s, advises officer trying to pull her over, not going to take a chance, she’ll pull under the lights at Streetman. One of our local DPS contacted, yep, he is trying to stop a car as we speak, nope it is not pulling over, yep, he does want it to stop now…..Her reply was not until she gets to the service station. Heard no more on this…..assume she eventually stopped somewhere….. further assume it was right where she said.

DPS Zotz and Putz, FEMS, Fairfield VFD and Dep. Aldrich to accident, Mile 194. Lady brought to Jail Lobby, just beat up by brother.

DPS Purnell arrests man, Failure To Identify. Later got word from Georgia on him…..Please hold him for us…..We want him bad….. What charge?.....Murder….. You bet, we gotcha covered.

DPS Thornton and Purnell, FEMS, Streetman VFD to accident, Mile 211, one flipped several times. THDEMS to S. 11th, Lady having seizures. Fairfield VFD to grassfire, Mile 196. THDEMS to Walnut, man had a little fall, hope it is not serious, but needs a trip to the ER to get checked over. Frequent Flyer calls from rural residence, woman just pulled up wanting money, last saw her 6 months ago. He told her no, she left….So far so good.

Troubles between two Ex’s on 8th, one won’t leave unless police are present, TPD complies. Sometimes visitations with kids are problematic.

Call from S. 3rd in Wortham advises possum has gotten into her deepfreeze. Whaduido? …..Keep him cold. Serve with potatoes, carrots and onions, 2 hours at 325 degrees! Corn bread on the side. Blue Bell for dessert! As Jed Clampett used to say, “Wheeee, Doggies.”

FPD to West 84, Hit and Run reported. This could have been bad because the struck party was on a bicycle. Lady reports her license plate stolen off parking lot on Saturday or Sunday at the Boyd Unit. Have strong suspicion probably happened during visitation, one of the visiting friends or relatives had an expired plate on another vehicle of the same make and description.

Teague Ag Teacher Thomas Cannon advises they just penned loose cattle at the Ag Barn, not theirs. 911 Call advises of vehicle burglarized on Church Street, FPD advised. Dep. Jeremy Shipley to report of stolen oil field water pump, FM-1366. FEMS to breathing troubles, FCR-502. Juvenile runaway, Donie area.

New word from Georgia on Murder Warrant. Nope, checked the prints, same name, same identifiers, but the prints don’t match, sorry, drop our hold on him. Consider it done, Georgia.

DPS Adams arrests two motorists, Mile 199, Dallas County Warrants on each, out of same county. Proof positive that birds of a feather flock together, I suppose. FEMS to medical problems, Fount Kirby.

Deputies Aldrich and Willis arrest motorist, Mile 209, Drug Paraphernalia. Also to report of stolen horse trailer, FCR-1151. Jailers to/ from Medina County, prisoner transport. County Critter Gitters to FCR-841, snake in house. Fairfield VFD to truck on fire, N. Fairway. FEMS to S. Bateman, elderly man feeling dizzy. DPS Adams, FEMS and Fairfield VFD to FCR-445, vehicle hit tree, fence down, driver carried to hospital by another motorist. Dew, Butler and Fairfield VFD’s to grassfire, FCR-471.

Deputy House to loose cattle, FM-1365…..okay, got ‘em in. More of same, FCR- 111. FEMS to S. Fairway, 92 year old very lethargic. Road Rage, Mile 213, one won’t let the other pass.

Wortham PD try to stop topwater speeder on FM-27 and the chase is on….Down FCR-1081, FM-27, took a spin throwing gravel while making a circle around the Nursing Home…..Ends up through a fence, driver cuts out on foot, apprehended by WPD Keathley and Carter. Wanted on Parole Violation Warrant out of Austin and Limestone County Warrant. In Jail now.

Seven dead hogs on US- 84 between Country Club and Boyd Unit, TxDOT enroute to perform graveside service for same.

Dep. Robertson to/from Bell County, prisoner transport. Butler and Dew VFD’s to fire, FCR-300. Report of 13 year old left to go with aunt and uncle to Laundromat at 3PM yesterday…..yes, yesterday, still not returned 24 hours later….located by TPD Solly….He should have been easy to spot….The cleanest duds in town.

Bank in Oakwood made national news a few days ago….the smallest bank in the U.S. Was on national television. No drivethru lane, still closes for one hour at dinner, 600 plus customers. Some would scoff at that operation, but I like the sound of their operation…. But they do have a goat problem in Oakwood….far removed from the world of high finance….Well…. Not so removed physically I suppose, since a 911 Call reported 6 or 7 goats loose in downtown area, Leon County advised and they will pass on the information to the new Chief of Police.

DPS Thornton to rolled 18-Wheeler, Service Road, north of Dew. Three new horses in Lady’s back yard on South Fairway. Deputy Robertson to/from Anderson County, prisoner transport. Pump stolen out of oil patch, FM-80.

Late August rains are passing through our fair County…..Well, that may be a bit of exaggeration, more along the line of light showers would be more accurate, but very welcome in whatever amount. And you can’t be a true Texan without always having an overly optimistic expectation of the weather.

Lady reports Ex-Boyfriend came over, she explained she had company, he broke her window and escaped on his bicycle, TPD Reed and Howard to same.

Three young folks on 4-Wheeler, FCR-950, trespassing, intoxicated, held by property owner until Dep. House arrived, now in jail. Man threatening to shotgun a neighbor’s dog on Sandy Ave., Deputy House to same.

Deputy Robertson to camp house vandalized, property destroyed, FCR- 410, owner last there several months previous.

DPS Zotz arrests driver involved in accident, US-84, DWI. Loose cattle, FM-488, owner contacted. Loud music problem in Southern Oaks, Dep. House to same. Neighbor dogs kill Lady’s cat in her backyard on Barbara, TPD notified.

TPD Reed to report of attempted bicycle theft. Deputy Elom to report of stolen Solar Panel and hookup, FCR-391, stolen sometime in last month. Former boyfriend believed to be chief suspect in breaking and entering of residence, FM-2570. 911 call from Anderson County advises husband pinned under motorcycle on a Private Road, Anderson Co. S.O advised of same.

Complaint by gas company worker, being harassed by another. Large truck and trailer blocking US-84 by Training Center due to being jackknifed, Dep. Anderson to same, directing traffic until the wrecker arrived.

School has started, the weather has cooled a bit….. fall is just around the corner….
