Teachers get back to school early

The 2009-10 school term may just be beginning for the kiddos, but BISD’s teachers and support staff have been back in the saddle for a whole week. Things kicked off with a welcome-back breakfast on Monday morning, followed by a re-orientation meeting led by Superintendent Jackie Thomason. The entire BISD staff had in-service training on Tuesday at the First Baptist Church, and additional in-service training sessions were held for the individual campuses and specialities later in the week. The church family at Stewart Memorial UMC hosted an appreciation luncheon for the teachers and support staff of BISD on Thursday. BES teachers opened their classrooms for “Meet The Teacher” night on Thursday evening, and Friday was spent in final preparations for the students’ return on August 24th.
