     AUSTIN – (Aug. 17, 2009) For the week ending Aug. 15, 2009, feeder cattle price trends at Texas auctions were mostly steady to $4 higher compared to a week earlier. However, auctions in the drought area were mostly steady to $4 lower with increasing numbers of light-weight feeders coming to sale. Fed cattle were $1 higher following a slight increase in wholesale beef prices.

      COLLEGE STATION – Thanks to rain, irrigated cotton looked good in most of the state, but whether dryland cotton will make a crop is still an iffy proposition in many areas, according to reports from Texas AgriLife Extension Service personnel.

Swine Tag Orders due by Sept. 18th
      All Leon County 4-H and FFA Members wishing to show swine projects at the Major Shows in Texas in 2010 need to order tags by contacting the Texas Agrilife Extension Service at 903.536.2531 by Sept 18, 2009. Each tag will cost $10.00 and the tags will not be ordered until payment is received. Members may order by mail by sending payment to the Leon County 4-H P.O.
