Caleb Eagans earns black belt

Caleb Eagans and Sensi Thomas Ashley Thirteen year old Caleb Eagans who attends Leon Junior High completed testing and received his Junior Black Belt from the Buffalo Shorin- Ryu karate school on Sunday, August 9th. The test lasted nearly four hours and included knowledge of Shorin-Tyu karate, basics, self-defense, katas and sparing against students and other black belt holders. Sensi Thomas Ashley who owns the school and Eagans’ fellow students presented Eagans with a sword and Gi (karate uniform) at a surprise party on Thursday, August 13. Eagans has attended the school since 2003.

Eagans says, “There is a lot more to learn. I am still just a beginner.”
