BHS gridders hit the field running
      Bison fans got their first look at the 2009 BHS football team at the annual Purple and Gold full-contact scrimmage at Brewer Field on Saturday morning, and it was a good one. Folks crowded into the best seats in the stadium -- the ones in the shade -- as the players (in full pads) battled not only their teammates but temperatures in the 90’s.

Volleyball ‘09 Underway
      After four days of practice, the Lady Bison volleyball teams tried out their skills in back-to-back play days over the weekend. Buffalo hosted Palestine and Crockett on Friday before joining Fairfield and Ferris in Teague on Saturday. While there are many areas for improvement, there is plenty of promise at all levels for the Lady Bison.

Leon Cougars welcome new coaches
      Coach Jason Evans comes to Leon as the new varsity volleyball coach after a successful stint at Centerville. The Lady Cougars lost six starters from last year’s team but have six returning ladies. They will be a young team this year with three seniors, one junior and six sophomores on the team.

OHS Panthers in two-a-day training
      Two-a-day summer football training is well under way for the Oakwood Panthers. Athletic Director Mike Heckathorn says they are excited about this upcoming year. "I think we've got a good team this year. We've got fifteen kids so far. We've got a few waiting on physicals and we know we'll have a few more sign up when school starts.

New faces in the coaching staff at Centerville High School
      James and Dusty Crafton are new coaches in the volleyball and basketball programs at Centerville. Dusty is the new varsity volleyball coach. James is the Girls’ Coordinator and will coach the junior varsity volleyball and the girl’s varsity basketball program. They have been married six years and come to Centerville from Leakey, Texas.
