Letters to the Editor

Letter to the Editor:

I am not an AARP member. It was apparent to me from their actions that they were using advocacy to sell insurance. Now they are supporting the Obama health care bill which would be a disaster for seniors. Apparently their advocacy for seniors is limited to selling them insurance.

My father was 85 years old when the pain in his side was diagnosed as kidney cancer. His cancer and kidney were removed and he had 6 more good years doing what he enjoyed doing until his death at 91. Obama, in his own words, made it clear that instead of an operation he would be given a pain pill to live out the rest of his shortened life in a drugged stupor.

If I were a member, I would take the lead in urging the membership to have an AARP day similar to the tax tea party. Come together, tear up your membership cards and send a sack full back to AARP.

You can choose to do nothing. When the government tells you that the medical procedure you need is not cost effective and gives you a pain pill instead, don’t complain.
