A shooting in Walker County on Friday night has left a local man in ICU with critical injuries. Kevin Kelly, who lives near Centerville and works as a day shift truck driver for R Construc- tion, was shot three times in the left abdomen and chest at about 10:07 the evening of August 7, during an apparent argument at a private residence in Trinity, Texas.  More...

In an unusually long city council meeting Thursday, August 6, the Council agreed to set times for two public hearings as one more step in the process of allowing KTR, managed by John Tuma, to annex land for building a subdivision on Highway 7 at CR 200. Bradford Ray Bing, 41, was born on May 15, 1968 in San Antonio, Texas and passed away on July 31, 2009. His parents were Paulette and the late Charlie Ray Bing. He attended Buffalo schools for 13 years where he was active in numerous activities. A member of the Bison Marching Band during grades 7-12, he also played JH, JV, and Varsity football.  More...

Bison fans got their first look at the 2009 BHS football team at the annual Purple and Gold full-contact scrimmage at Brewer Field on Saturday morning, and it was a good one. Folks crowded into the best seats in the stadium -- the ones in the shade -- as the players (in full pads) battled not only their teammates but temperatures in the 90’s.  More...
Cull cows represent between 15 and 30 percent of a cow-calf herd's revenue, but relatively little attention is given to cull cow marketing. Most cow-calf producers traditionally sort and sell cull cows in the fall when prices are at or near the seasonal low. However, alternative management systems and timing of cull cow marketing may increase net revenues for the cow-calf operation.  More...
